This project aimed to provide residents with a comfortable domestic feel – the feeling that you are not actually in an aged care facility at all. What makes this project so successful is its ability to address all the constraints (security, fire rating, disability access) and adhere to government certification standards whilst maintaining a strong design. 

The design includes large flexible rooms with ensuites and unexpected features like the 'men's shed' and arcade style 'internal street' - featuring a general store, dining room/cafe, theatre (or entertainment room). Also adding to the strength of the design is the attractive high level fit out which at every stage considered the frail elderly (includes dementia wing) whilst adding to the overall domestic feel of the facility.
